Plant-Based Dining

Plates is a plant-based food studio and restaurant, influenced by art and inspired by nature.

Using only plant-based natural ingredients, Plates focus on organic vegetables, fruits and wild herbs in the creation of both food and drinks menus.

The restaurant delivers a seasonal menu of nature-inspired creativity, refined through Michelin-star techniques from Executive Chef Kirk Haworth. Together with creative director (and sister) Keeley, they founded the unique dual-purpose space in Hoxton, East London.

Through the week the food studio works with brands and clients to deliver artistic, plant-based collaborations, catering and content.

Kirk (formerly of The French Laundry, Restaurant Sat Bains, The Square, Quay & Northcote) has created a style that is new, entirely natural and innovative in its technique; passionately cooking without meat, fish, gluten, dairy or refined sugar.

The restaurant exclusively opens its doors to the public each Saturday evening.

Plates founders

Kirk Haworth has worked in some of the world’s finest restaurants including Restaurant Sat Bains, The French Laundry, The Square and Quay in Sydney and is classically trained by his father, Michelin-starred chef Nigel Haworth

While Keeley’s roots are firmly in food and nutrition, she’s also co-owner of Hoxton based creative agency, Studio la Plage. Bringing her skills in creative direction to Plates, she hopes Plates will show people how natural, healthy food can be brought to centre stage with nutrition playing a vital role, as much as the creative setting & relaxed environment of their new restaurant

Autumn 2018

Autumn sees a celebration of the earthiest and most beautiful flavours of the season. Guests can expect a flavour filled culinary journey into plant based dining, with all menus being created without meat, fish, dairy, gluten, or refined sugars.

Beetroot tartare, red currants, avocado, fennel pollen

Toasted potato and barley broth, sea herbs, wild rocket, potato emulsion

Artichoke & wild mushroom risotto, organic black rice cracker, toasted hazelnut, winter truffle

Pear & liquorice tart

Plates house bread will be served. Working with some of the UK’s top suppliers, Kirk will create the dishes using mainly organic/wild ingredients

Year 1 sees a collaboration with Yorkshire based photographer Tom Dewhirst.

A long-standing friend of Keeley and Kirk, Tom is heavily influenced by nature, changing of landscapes and the Yorkshire country side he proudly calls home. Tom bought his first 35mm Pentax ME Super in a charity shop in Harrogate which he still uses today. Tom shoots only on film and his body of work can be viewed here

We regularly donate to, and support Lyme Aid UK, of which Kirk is an ambassador of. In 2016-18 Kirk raised over £28,000 for UK Lyme charities from hosting several high profile fund raising dinners and events
